2023 sparked Kelan's recent journey in artistry development sparked by numerous eye-opening experiences. Whether that had been through artist engagement and collaborations to understanding more of the business aspects and how to represent himself, Kelan spent the bulk of his year surrounding himself with genuine passion and appreciation.
After flying out to Los Angeles to work with an established videographer, Kelan made the trip to New York City with his friends to take on his first show. These two months were the beginning moments of his introduction into the business itself rather than just the physical production of the music itself. With that said, Kelan quickly found himself losing the joy in production and took a step back to find a more genuine approach rather than one of monetary value.
Kelan has always been extremely vocal and against catering towards just one particular sound and is looking forward to the new wave of music that is collaborating through different genres. For example, recognizing the popularity behind the house scene at the moment and finding new ways to integrate it into the hip-hop space.
Kelan took the leap from changing his artist name from Izaiah (middle name) Bindon (surname) to Kelan (first name) Every (grandparent's surname) for authenticity. The idea of using his grandparent's last name came from their heavy influence over not only his taste in music but its prevalence in his life.
He’s currently working on dropping an EP in the next few months, traveling into deeper sides of hip-hop than ever before while working into sides of untapped houses. This EP has a lot of influence from Tyler the Creator, specifically how he is able to go from deep rap to more playful sounds throughout entire projects. Altogether, the new Kelan is working on enjoying himself and seeing where music and art take him, rather than the money with no specific end goal to fill holes. Something to look into for the future.
